Hotel Tumski - Wroclaw, Poland  Category: Hostel Address: Wyspa Słodowa 10 - Wroclaw, Poland Description: The custom of organising school trips to big cities, which constitute important national cultural heritage, is slowly disappearing. This is caused by the mistaken opinion that it is impossible to find cheap accommodation for a group of kids in a city frequented by foreign tourists. Fortunately, this is not true. The hostel used to be a tenement house, which was the seat of a boarding-school after the Second World War. In 2000, the building became property of the Polish Society of Youth Hostels (PTSM), and was renovated and adapted in a model way by the INTEGER company. In the same building there is the Mill Inn, where you can eat a good meal. This fact and proximity of inexpensive bars and grocers shops make this place worth a recommendation. In Wrocław, students can stay in the International Youth Hostel (PTSM) Na Wyspie, situated in the city centre (on the Słodowa Island, with a beautiful view on the river Odra), right next to Ostrów Tumski. The most important places in Wrocław, like the Old market, Old town, Cathedral, National Museum, Panorama of the Battle of Racławice are within a few-minute walk from the hostel. Hala Ludowa concert hall and the ZOO can be easily reached by tram. The hostel offers very good accommodation conditions for 50 people, rooms are clean and spacious. Beds, even though they are bunk beds like in all the hostels, are wide and comfortable. A great convenience is the fact that the hostel has a modular division: one module contains 2 rooms, a bathroom with shower and a toilet. It is also important that the whole hostel is situated on one floor, which facilitates discreet supervision over little charges, and teachers may sleep in a double room. The kitchen constitutes an integral part of the hostel: it is big, equipped with a refrigerator, cooker and kitchenware. Beside the double room, the hostel has 4-person, 6-person and 10-person rooms.
