The word 'kàbáta' means mountain in one of the native Costa Rican languages, and we are proud of our beautifully conserved mountains and jungles. However, it is only a couple of blocks away from the University of Costa Rica, Outlet American Mall, Mall San Pedro, banks, ATMs, shops, art galleries, cinemas, fast food restaurants as well as more formal places to eat. If you are interested in a night on the town, La Calle de la Amargura -with bars like Jazz Café, Terra U, Caccio's, La Villa, Mosaikos, etc.- is where all the college students hang out, and is definitely the place to go. There is night life for every taste, be it noisy and loud or calm and more quiet.
